How Australians will celebrate Global Wellness Day 2026 – for free!

09 Jun, 2026

On Saturday 13 June, Australians are invited to celebrate Global Wellness Day 2026 through a range of free wellness experiences designed to inspire this year’s theme: Joy. From community fun runs and movement classes to sauna sessions, nature immersions and mindfulness experiences, the nationwide program encourages people to reconnect with the activities that help them feel energised, present and well.

While each event offers a different pathway to wellbeing, they all share a common goal: helping people discover joy – whether that be through movement, recovery, connection or time spent in nature.

Here’s a look at some of the experiences taking place across Australia to mark this global celebration of wellness.

Oh, and don’t forget to enter our giveaway! The prize is worth more than $2000 and includes a stay at Elysia Wellness Retreat, plus beautiful products from Sodashi, Dr Libby Weaver, Bio Blends and Well Traveller. Here is the link: WIN

Joy Through Movement

Movement takes centre stage this Global Wellness Day, with free events in Queensland and Victoria encouraging Australians to embrace the joy that comes from getting active, connecting with others and prioritising their wellbeing.

In Brisbane’s West End, Turkish-inspired café and wellness destination Süreyya Kahve (by the team at KAILO) is hosting a free 5km community fun run led by mental health advocate and athlete Brooke McIntosh. Designed to bring people together through movement, the event reflects the venue’s philosophy of nourishment, connection and community, with participants also able to enjoy a special limited-edition smoothie created for the occasion – and some of the proceeds will go directly to Brooke’s charity.

Meanwhile in South Melbourne, Trinity Curated Wellness is offering four complimentary classes ranging from Dynamic Mat Pilates and Strong Flow Yoga to restorative Yin and Nidra Yoga and Mellow Stretch. Together, the sessions showcase how movement can support strength, flexibility, relaxation and mindfulness, helping participants reconnect with both body and mind while celebrating the simple joy of feeling well.

Joy Through Recovery

Recovery is becoming an increasingly important part of the wellbeing conversation, and this Global Wellness Day, Australians are invited to discover the joy that can come from slowing down, restoring energy and taking time to recharge.

In Western Australia, Nimbus Co Dunsborough is hosting a free communal sauna and ice bath experience, giving participants the opportunity to experience the invigorating effects of temperature contrast therapy. Alternating between heat and cold is designed to awaken the senses, encourage presence and leave participants feeling refreshed and energised.

Meanwhile, complimentary sauna experiences are being offered at Nimbus Co locations in Richmond and Fitzroy in, as well as Bondi in Sydney. Whether it's an infrared sauna session or a dedicated wellness reset, these experiences offer a chance to pause, unwind and reconnect with the body - demonstrating that sometimes joy can be found not in doing more, but in taking time to rest and restore. And there is no better place to recover than at a Nimbus Co studio.

Joy Through Connection

While movement and recovery play an important role in wellbeing, joy can also be found through connection – to ourselves, to others, to nature and to culture. This year’s Global Wellness Day program includes a range of experiences designed to foster a deeper sense of presence and belonging.

At North Head Sanctuary in Manly, the Walk and Weave experience invites participants to connect with Country through a guided bushland walk and traditional weaving workshop led by First Nations educator Caressa Murphy from Koori Kinnections, offering an opportunity to experience wellbeing through culture, storytelling and community.

In the NSW Southern Highlands, guests can enjoy mindful nature practices, crystal bowl sound healing and gentle interactions with therapy horses at Highlands Centre for Healing

In Sydney, Well Traveller, Destination NSW, the Botanic Gardens of Sydney and Sodashi are hosting Rituals of Joy, a special Global Wellness Day gathering set against the backdrop of Sydney Harbour. Held on Bennelong Lawn in the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney, the free experience combines mindful movement, a restorative sound bath and guided meditation, inviting guests to pause, reflect and reconnect in a shared celebration of wellbeing. The event brings together practitioners from Elysia Wellness Retreat, The Bess Life and Sodashi, creating a nurturing space centred on presence, community and joy.

Also in Sydney, participants can start the day with a free Sunrise Meditation overlooking Elizabeth Bay. Hosted by Caroline Hey from Somatic Balance.108, the session combines mindful breathing, gratitude and meditation, offering a simple opportunity to begin the day with intention.

Joy Through Nature

Spending time outdoors has long been associated with improved wellbeing, and Global Wellness Day offers plenty of opportunities to reconnect with the natural world. Whether it's walking through ancient bushland, catching a wave or paddling across a quiet harbour, these experiences invite participants to slow down and appreciate the restorative power of nature.

In the Blue Mountains, Nature's Breath with the team at Tagster takes guests on a guided journey through the fern-filled landscapes of Lyrebird Dell and the Pool of Siloam near Leura, blending mindful movement, creativity and reflection.

On the NSW South Coast, beginners can discover the joy of surfing with a supportive learn-to-surf session at Camel Rock Surf School, while in Sydney, early risers can experience the harbour at its most peaceful on a sunrise kayak tour with Sydney Kayaking Tours.

If you can’t make it to one of the featured events, consider joining your local parkrun Australia. Held every Saturday morning, these free 5km community events welcome people of all ages and abilities to walk, jog, run, volunteer or simply cheer others on. With a strong focus on movement, connection and inclusivity, parkrun is a simple way to experience the joy of being active alongside your community.

Each experience offers a different way to connect with the outdoors, but all share a common theme: creating space to be present, embrace something new and find joy in the simple act of spending time in nature.

Find Joy for you on Global Wellness Day

While the activities vary from state to state, they share a common goal: helping people reconnect with the experiences that make them feel good. Whether that's running alongside a community, stretching on a yoga mat, stepping into a sauna or simply spending time in nature, Global Wellness Day 2026 is a reminder that wellbeing can begin with the simplest moments of joy.

Date: Saturday 13 June.

Reminder: All events are free! Bookings are required.
