Jarramali Rock Art Tours

Cairns & Great Barrier Reef, Queensland

Jarramali Rock Art Tours is a family owned and operated business based in Laura, a small town on the Cape York Peninsula in Tropical North Queensland. The township boasts one of the most significant and largest collections of Indigenous rock art in the world.

Founder, Johnny Murison, is a Kuku-Yalanji man from Cape York Peninsula and he has immense knowledge of Aboriginal culture. Johnny offers exclusive 4WD and helicopter tours to a pristine and culturally significant rock art site called ‘Magnificent Gallery’ that archaeologists predict is a 20,000-year-old outback museum. This is an ancient gallery that is outstanding for its diversity, quantity and quality of art, and is home to over 450 pieces.

Johnny brings the many fascinating stories of his culture to life providing guests with a deeper understanding of First Nations People. Learn about and sample native bush tucker and bush medicine practices, and the history of the region.

Day trips and overnight camping experiences are available, and these tours are for those who prefer to escape the big tourist crowds and opt for a more intimate and cultural wilderness experience in Australia’s rugged outback.
