Mindy Woods is a chef, restaurateur, author and proud Bundjalung woman of the Widjabul Wia-bul clan, based in in Byron Bay (Cavanbah). She has achieved two Australian Hats at her restaurant Karkalla, with Mindy becoming the first female Indigenous chef to receive this recognition.

Building on this success, Karkalla has now expanded to offer Native Cooking classes and Karkalla On Country – an immersive culinary and cultural experience on Bundjalung Country – and allows Mindy to help both indigenous and non-indigenous people to connect with Aboriginal culture, art and stories through food.

She proudly champions locally sourced, seasonal produce and native Indigenous ingredients, and we love that these experiences are about deepening connections to the land, Indigenous culture, and the sacred ingredients that sustain us.
