Founded by Honolulu-based lei maker and educator Dillyn Lietzke, PALAI Hawai’i blends cultural education with hands-on creativity through thoughtfully curated lei, floral, and botanical workshops. With a background in plant ecology and conservation, Dillyn brings a deep respect for native flora to her teaching, grounding each experience in both place and tradition.
Guided by the philosophy of “learning and doing,” PALAI invites participants to move beyond observation into practice – to nurture connection, spark a lasting appreciation for lei making within the community, and to equip participants with the skills, knowledge, and inspiration needed to help carry this cultural practice forward for generations to come.
We love that the workshops are a mindful practice and reflect Dillyn’s maiau style: precise, intentional, and rooted in traditional lei-making techniques, while gently incorporating contemporary elements.
