With Wajaana Yaam, based on Gumbaynggirr Country on the NSW Coffs Coast, you’ll enjoy an immersive Stand up paddle (SUP) adventure with direct descendants of the world’s first stand up paddlers.
Tours are located in highly significant park settings including Coffs Creek, Moonee Creek and Red Rock Creek. During this 2.5-hour cultural experience, your Aboriginal guide will take you on a gentle journey through the rich Gumbaynggirr culture.
After a short briefing, you’ll be gliding along one of the picturesque waterways of the region on your SUP board, where you’ll see old traditional sites, learn about old traditional stories, and have the chance to to touch, smell and taste bush tucker, all while hearing the Gumbaynggirr language throughout the experience.
We love that SUP experience is not necessary, and if you prefer to take the tour by kayak – that can be arranged, too!
By joining a tour with Wajaana Yam you are also contributing to a social enterprise that creates employment opportunities and promotes language and culture. So, have fun, connect with Country and give back to the local community.
