Yilam

Central Highlands, Victoria

Yilam, a word for ‘camp’ in the language of the Taungurung Nation, is leading change within the camping world by empowering all people to connect with and care for Country through experiences that are grounded in Aboriginal philosophies and knowledge systems.

Mother and daughter team, Joanne and Kaley, had a vision to create a range of ethically and sustainably sourced camping equipment, made from quality durable materials and to teach people the philosophies of connecting to Country through intimate on Country experiences. Joanne grew up on Barapa Barapa Country surrounded by family and culture. Spending much of her childhood camping around the area, she credits this time to her ongoing love of being on Country.

Yilam hosts individual and group overnight experiences specifically designed to empower all campers from beginners to those more advanced to feel confident and safe out bush. We love that there are specific tours for beginners, tours that focus on women’s business and others for families.
