Multi-award-winning Kestrel Nest EcoHut is an off-grid and off-line getaway set on Highfield Farm and Woodland near the NSW Snowy Mountains where owners Louise and David uniquely combine small-scale ecological farming with the protection of critically endangered habitat.
With no reception, no wi-fi and no other building or road in sight you can turn off and tune into each other and to nature. A burbling stream a short stroll away is home to Platypus and Rakali, and over 140 different species of birds call Highfield home. Numerous environmental projects on farm and the small farm produce footprint ensure that this property is Climate Positive (capturing more emissions that they emit!). We love that your stay at Kestrel Nest helps fund these initiatives.
Kestrel Nest EcoHut is also the first Dark Sky Approved lodging in Australia. This means that they not only have dark skies that are excellent for stargazing but that they have also used a lighting plan that minimises the damaging effect man made light can have on nocturnal creatures, on night flying insects and animals migrating by night.
