Sydney’s best luxury hotel day Spas

The Day Spa by Chuan

When I get leisure time, I rock it hard. And by hard, I mean chilling in a snuggly robe and getting pampered like royalty at a luxe spa. As a working mum of a high-spirited toddler, I earn every blessed minute of indulgence I can handle! I recently read that some studies have linked frequenting spas to better physical and mental health, including better quality sleep and fewer sick days, which makes me feel less guilty about indulging in this kind of self-care whenever I get the chance.

If you’re Sydney bound and, like me, keen to dive into a hefty dose of lavishness at a swanky hotel spa, here are five of the best to relax in without a worry in the world.

Auriga Spa

Capella Sydney

You’ll find Auriga Spa immersed in the historic walls of Capella Sydney, a luxury hotel in the heart of the city. The expert team offers a range of bespoke spa experiences inspired by the cycles of nature and the moon in beautiful treatment rooms for both couples and individuals. We love the 2-hour ‘New Moon Renewal and Reflection’ experience that incorporates Synthesis Organics essential oils and skin care products and includes a Scent Journey, body polish and peel wrap, stimulating massage, renewal facial and energy wand therapy.

Auriga is open to both in-house and external guests, however, we thoroughly recommend upgrading your experience by staying in one of the 192 gorgeous rooms or suites – additional facilities available to hotel guests include heated indoor swimming and vitality pools, a state-of-the-art fitness centre and yoga platform.

The Day Spa by Chuan

The Langham, Millers Point

This underground spa sanctuary at The Langham hotel boasts a 20 metre heated indoor pool underneath a star-dappled sky ceiling plus a hot tub, steam room and gymnasium – all of which day spa visitors have complimentary access to.

The spa experiences here are guided by Five Elements theory. The idea is to identify your element through a questionnaire and sensory testing to help you find the most suitable products for your treatment. If you can’t pick from the extensive spa menu, they have a ‘build your own package’ option where you can select between two to four delicious 30-minute treatments.

The Spa

Park Hyatt, Sydney

Situated right on Sydney Harbour, with the most amazing views of the Opera House and Harbour Bridge, is the equally iconic Park Hyatt Hotel. With its tranquil treatment rooms, The Spa offers a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. You can enjoy a range of luxurious facials, relaxing massages and spa rituals that incorporate transformative skin care products and essential oils from La Mer and iKou.

We love that every treatment is influenced by the sun, the wind, the water, the flowers and the earth. You must try the ‘Dreaming’ Spa experience. There’s guided breathwork, a massage, a refreshing facial and a sleep ritual kit to take home (or back to your suite!).

Chi, The Spa

Shangri La Hotel, Sydney

The perfectly positioned Shangri-La Hotel, in Sydney’s Rocks, draws inspiration from the legendary Shangri-La, a place of personal peace, enchantment and well-being. So it is no wonder it is home to the relaxing oasis, Chi, The Spa.

Massages and treatments are offered by skilful therapists and based on traditional wellness practices shared by many Asian cultures. Indigenous ingredients and healing techniques are also featured – think pink clay wraps and full-body exfoliation therapy with wattleseed and sandalwood. To enhance your treatment, you can even add a session in the InfraRed Sauna, or try Tripollar Radio Frequency that stimulates collagen production.

Crown Spa

"If you are after a complete urban pampering experience, head to Crown Spa in Crown Towers."

Crown Spa

Crown Sydney, Barangaroo

If you are after a complete urban pampering experience, head to Crown Spa in Crown Towers. With wall-to-wall marble, lavender tones and stunning city views, this day spa is pure luxury. Choose from refreshing facials with La Prairie spa products, rhythmic massages and luxurious body treatments. There’s also an opulent nail bar for that mani or pedi, and expert hair stylists to ensure your locks look their best before a delicious dinner in one of the many nearby restaurants.

If your treatment is one hour or more, you can also indulge in some water therapy at the Aqua Retreat facilities – a steam room, swiss shower and spa. Tip – arrive at your appointment early to take full advantage! We suggest starting with a visit to the steam room to warm the body and eliminate toxins, followed by the therapeutic swiss shower to stimulate the senses and finally to the Vitality spa, the perfect place to rest and relax.
