Starting and finishing at Manly Wharf in Sydney, the 10km North Head Circuit takes you through a spectacular pocket of coastal wilderness, including South Steyne, Shelly Beach Park, Sydney Harbour National Park, Little Manly Reserve, East Esplanade Park and the highlight of the journey – North Head Sanctuary.
Perched on a peninsula bordered by dramatic sandstone cliffs, North Head Sanctuary is a protected coastal parkland where nature, culture and history come together. Discover significant sites including North Fort’s historic military buildings, Australia’s Memorial Walk, Hanging Swamp and the Third Quarantine Cemetery, while taking in sweeping harbour and ocean views.
The Grade 2 circuit follows well-maintained tracks with gentle inclines and steps, making it suitable for most walkers. Stop at Bella Vista Café near the North Head Sanctuary Visitor Centre, or relax with a picnic, kick a footy or fly a kite on the open lawn beside the Barracks Precinct. Short on time? The 3km Sanctuary Loop can be completed in under an hour.
